This isn’t a new concept either – natural ceramic filters have been in use for a long time. Ceramic filtration was first developed in the 1820s to help combat cholera outbreaks, and it has been in use ever since.

Ceramic filtration systems are great for household use. They are portable and easily installed. Ceramic systems can be used via countertop, gravity-fed, or under-sink installations. Even some mild industrial processes rely on ceramic filters for their purification needs.

It’s also a completely accessible filtration option for most of the world. The World Health Organization has approved ceramic filters as a way to reduce turbidity and remove more than 99% of harmful impurities.
